Fort Howard Apartments relies on volunteers and donations to continue to provide a beautiful and affordable home for our residents. Please contact us if you can help.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Volunteer Drivers:
Needed to transport residents to appointments, shopping and activites. A 14 passenger vehicle is on site and used for this transportation. No special license is required but driver must be comfortable driving a larger vehicle. Volunteers will be screened by the Curative Workshop volunteer office.
Interviewer:
Interview one or two residents a month and write a short story about them for resident newsletter.
Gardeners:
To help plant flowers and tend to gardens throughout the year.
Special Events:
Volunteers to help with special events and dinners. Volunteers will be contacted by email about upcoming events when extra help is needed.
Computer Lab:
Work one-on-one with residents to learn basics like email and facebook. Assist some residents by setting up skype with family members or physically typing letters or messages for them.
Donations Needed:
Van Fund:
Our van is now 12 years old. We have established a fund for its eventual replacement. Transportation is an important service that we provide for our residents. This service is provided in cooperation with Curative Connections.
Gardens and Outdoor Areas:
We have worked hard to create beautiful garden areas and outdoor spaces on our property. Future plans include more outdoor seating areas, a picnic area and raised planting beds for vegetables. Plans also include storage for outdoor equipment and games that on be enjoyed by residents or their guests.
We plan to replace the fenced in area on the North side of our building. The fence was constructed in 1982 when the building was built and is in need of being replaced.
Our hope is to continue to make our property a beautiful space for our residents to enjoy and be an asset to the neighborhood. Donations toward a specific planting or tree or piece of outdoor furniture as well as any of these projects would be appreciated.
